Being Proactive

Guess what day it is? Yes that’s right it is Thursday “gleemerman” day.  This morning after my son left for school – he’s a senior in high school, I sat down at the computer and checked emails and texted my sister “Happy Birthday” – does anyone talk on the phone any more? I then looked for a job on all the usual job boards; careerbuilder, monster, indeed, etc.  Nothing came up for what I am looking for.  I started to feel a little down and discouraged as so many other job seekers are feeling the same way these days. I have signed up with temp agencies such as Apple, Volt, Office Team, etc.  Once in a while I get a call.  It’s frustrating when you call them and they don’t even know who you are because they have so many applicants.

I decided instead I would work on sending out emails about me as a “virtual assistant” and that I am also a notary public.  I am putting my spreadsheet together of companies to target.  Knowing that I was doing something positive and proactive made me feel better. I am emailing companies and hoping that at least one will call me back.  The law of averages is that you have to send out hundreds just to get one.  I’ll be at this all day and night and the next day and the next…..
