It is the week of Thanksgiving. This is the first year that my son and I are staying home and I will be cooking dinner for my son, his father and myself.  Small but nice – I’m looking forward to cooking.  Usually my family gets together and we spend most of the day cooking and then eating.  It is sometimes hectic and busy with all the preparing, cooking, cleaning, etc.

When my parents were alive we always went up north and spent a few days with them and my siblings.  Mom always made these wonderful poppyseed rolls.  My sisters and niece and I tried one year after mom passed to bake them.  We could not believe that none of us paid attention to how she made them in order to duplicate the delicious rolls.  Lets just say they did not turn out to be anything like hers. Now we have agreed not to make them.  It will be just a memory of Thanksgiving past.

I am grateful for all those Thanksgivings and for my family that made them special and to new traditions.
Have a lovely holiday and I hope you get to enjoy it with your love ones.
