Valentine’s Day

It is Valentine’s Day February 14, 2013.  I gave my son a card and a round M&M tin this morning before he left for school.  Since he is 18 we really do not do more than this.  I have a cold so I’m not sure if I will make dinner tonight and I have a meeting at 6pm.

My mother always made each holiday special by making a nice dinner, baking a dessert that was specific to the holiday and after she became a grandmother she handmade cards.  Not just a note card with a salutation but more elaborate handcrafted with lots of love. I miss receiving the cards and so does my son. The thoughtfulness and care she took to personalize each card for 6 grandchildren and 4 children was truly special.

I made cards for each of my siblings however it was not elaborate like my mother’s.  Maybe some day I’ll take more time to handcraft the cards and make them the way she did but for now I will take out the ones she made and treasure them as I do her.  Happy Valentine’s Day!
