I am sanding and prepping the overhang outside the side door. The paint on it is peeling and I thought I would tackle the project myself. I do not know a thing about home repair but I am willing to learn.
A friend told me to sand it and then I went to the hardware store and the clerk told me to sand it, prime it and then paint it. The sanding takes a long time – I am doing it by hand and difficult to do because it is on metal.
Once I get done sanding I have to put the primer on when it is warm and dry outside. The primer will take 2 – 6 hours to dry. I started sanding yesterday and I am going out now to do some more. Hopefully I can put the primer on today, wait and paint in a day or two.
To accomplish my goal and have it look good when I am finished, it is worth taking my time and making sure that the paint will adhere properly and last a long time. One step at a time eventually the project will be complete – I need to remind myself there is no hurry, it is not going anywhere just like other goals in life they take time to achieve.
