My son is at a vocational college. He is learning to be an automotive technician. The college is one of the tops for mechanics. My son is passionate about fast cars and would like to restore old cars.
Unfortunately, he is not happy where he lives, not happy with his room mates, and thinks some of the teachers are idiots. Not good. I have reminded him that this was his choice. He was so excited to go to this college. I also reminded him that we all need to learn how to get along with people, even people we do not like.
As his mother I feel bad that he is unhappy and would love for him to come home however, friends and family are saying he should stay. He will work through it and come out a stronger human being.
In my younger days I tried different jobs and lived in different cities and was always able to come home. I am also stretched financially and it would save money for him to live at home. If he moves home he has been told he has to work and can attend the community college which has a automotive program. He said he wants to come home and yes he will work and go to school.
Do you think having him come home is good or bad? Maybe he wasn’t really ready to move out and live on his own. Some kids mature faster than others. He is only 19 so there is plenty of time for him to go out on his own when he is ready. Thanks for reading this post and I look forward to reading your comments.
