Sorry I have not written a new post for awhile. I have been working 6 to 7 days a week trying to make enough to pay my bills. This past Friday while working with a client I bit into a bagel and one of my teeth broke. When I took the broken piece out of my mouth I was stunned at how large the piece was.
I called a couple of dentists in the area and asked if they could get me in right away and if they would allow me make payments. One dentist not too far from where I was did have availability to get me in that afternoon and they would discuss the financial plan when I arrived.
The financial plan was signing up for some credit care company that you could call or go online to fill out their application and get approved right away. I took the brochure home with me and saw that the APR is 14.9% but in another box it said 26%. That is outrageous interest rates! How do they expect the patient to afford that?
I remember when dentists and doctors would let you make payments. Now everyone wants their money IMMEDIATELY. What a terribly greedy world we live in where professionals cannot be apathetic to their patients. I find it sad and frustrating that this is the way it is. There are people that are trying to make ends meet and cannot afford to go to dentists and doctors for treatments because they know they will not be allowed to pay the bill a little at a time even with Obama Care.
I have seen on the news groups such as “Doctors without Borders” that will see patients for free. The patients have to wait in long lines for many hours and hope they will be one of the lucky ones and get seen by the doctors. We need more of these type of professionals that are willing to give of themselves without expectations of payments. That would create a meaningful and caring society.
