My Cat

Hello Sassy

I have a short hair tabby with a Lynx mix.  She definitely has more of the Lynx look to her.  She does not have much of a tail, her paws look like that of a Bobcat’s paws, and she has a tendency to run around the house acting like she is crazy.

Her name is Sassy, my son named her after the cat in the movie Homeward Bound.  Sassy is an indoor cat however she likes going outside and she is allowed to take walks in the yard as long as my son or I are supervising her.  She is 10 years old and has not really been outside so I am leery of letting her out by herself.  The area I live in has deer, raccoon, and some bobcats have been seen.  I do not think that she would survive among the wilderness.

She does not like people.  She tends to scratch or paw at people if they try to pet her.  She is very protective over my son and I and enjoys cuddling up with us when we are sitting on the couch watching TV.  She is also a bit of a princess.  She likes clean water and wants fresh food even when there is food in her dish, same with her litter box.

When I come home after work, she is waiting in the living room window for me.  She rubs up against me and makes me feel like she is happy to have me home.  It is comforting having her, petting her relaxes me.  There have been many articles on how pets relieve stress in people just by petting them.  I feel that my life is better with Sassy around because it is calming to have her in my lap and I like having her to talk to when no one else is around. She does not talk back except when she wants food which is almost all the time. Yes she likes to eat and is a little over weight but it looks good on her.  When she is not eating she is sleeping and I like I said occasionally running around the house like a crazy cat which is good exercise – maybe that is why she is doing it who knows any way it is entertaining!
