Thursday when I arrived home after work, I was surprised to see a package at my door step. The return address told me it was from my sister-in-law.
I opened the package to find a sweet note that said she was at a Global Green event and thought she would pass along some of the “green goodies”. The “green goodies” were a reusable bag, a “green” dish detergent, some makeup, and hand sanitizer.
Under all these things were a couple of scarves, a vest, and a coat she said she was “ready to move them along”. And then to add to my delight was a book! I love reading books and my sister-in-law knows that. She passed along “The Untethered Soul” by Michael Singer. She loved the book and thought I would enjoy it.
I was so happy to receive so many wonderful items and I felt the love and care that went into the hand picking of each item. I realized that it is not often that people receive gifts they did not ask for and I realized how much joy receiving something unexpected in the mail brought me.
It is not my birthday, not Christmas or any other holiday. It was a loved one passing along things that she thought I would enjoy. Pay it forward and bring happiness to someone else especially when it is unexpected.
