A Family Tradition

Did you have a nice Thanksgiving? This was the first year I was not able to share the holiday with my family as everyone in my family had other plans.

I was fortunate to attend Thanksgiving with neighbors and their family.  It was nice to relax and enjoy the conversations and the hospitality.  However I did feel the sadness of not having any family to share the holiday with, as every Thanksgiving was the time that all my family gathered together at my parent’s house and shared food, conversations and long walks together.

This Thanksgiving was not the traditional Thanksgiving I grew up with.  My parents have passed away, my brother and his family are in another country, one sister went to another state, and my younger sister stayed home to spend Thanksgiving with her family; a very different Thanksgiving for sure.

Changes – I’m learning to roll with it and accept it.  Life goes on, hopefully next year we can all be together sharing our traditional Thanksgiving.
